The Office of the University Controller is responsible for all functions required by the University on all campuses performed by the following divisions:

Cost analysis and Reporting

The Division of Cost Analysis and Compliance provides analytical and cost accounting services to ensure the University’s compliance with cost principles and accounting standards set forth by the federal government.

FinaNcial Information Systems (FIS)

Financial Information Systems (FIS) works to understand functional requirements of financial systems (General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, Projects, Awards, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Fixed Assets and Inventory); creates functional/technical specifications and works closely with business units and technical teams to design, develop, test, and implement finance reports and analytics; determines department needs and delivers training and communications concerning financial procedures and system matte

Payroll Services

Serves as the central support service in the university's payment of salary and hourly employees and maintains benefit enrollment, reporting and accounting activity, federal and state employment tax withholding and reporting data.

Student Accounting, Billing, and Cashiering

Records and bills tuition and fee revenues, housing, dining, and miscellaneous charges on all students' accounts at the university. Collects and records payments, financial aid credits, scholarship payments, tuition remission, and waivers for every semester students are in attendance at the university.

Tax Services

Ensures compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations, including the timely filing of the university's federal and state tax returns. Advises the university on various matters including unrelated business income, scholarship and fellowship taxation, nonresident alien payments, tax treaty benefits, tax exempt bond financing, compensation and fringe benefits, and employment taxes.

University Accounting

Performs all general accounting functions required by the university on all campuses. Such as assists units with understanding the financial accounting system, creates accounts and procedures to control funds; prepares internal financial reports (account details, analysis, and projections essential for effective planning, control, and decision making) and external financial reports (audited financial statements); develops policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls; maintains budgetary control over non-state and non-research funds, and compliance with all accounting principles, practices, and reporting requirements.
